IDOL TASK - Celebrity Showcase

Interactive dance performance

© Christiane Kupfer

IDOL TASK - Celebrity Showcase is a co-production of IntoLight and TMA Hellerau. In an interactive performance visitors are invited to playfully deal with the subject of media-specific celebrities. They will be sharing a room with two female dancers, who can be identified as celebrities or pop-idols. By means of various, touch-on interfaces the visitors determine the life and career choices of these idols. In the course of this activity they playfully act out various generic roles boss of a label, journalist, dealer and pop consumer. Their interactions make them determine the outer conditions and inner circumstances of the idols. At any given time they take a direct influence on the image and sound as well as the whole dramatic composition of the performance. Neither activity nor passivity will remain without an outcome. Visitors will assume an acting role and not be able to withdraw from responsibility.

RIVERS OF EUROPE PROJECT

Interdisciplinary performance project

RIVE responded to the question of the present and the future meaning of rivers. Historically rivers are not only a main source and centre of life, but carriers of meaning for human interaction. We traveled the length of the River Danube, inviting people from the Black Forest to the Black Sea to share experiences and values. Our floating venue offered a wide-ranging cultural program, exploring the connecting and dividing forces of the Danube and addressing cross-national issues. The New York Times titled the project: Ambassadors of Culture”.

AUDIO BALLERINAS

Dance Performances with Electroacoustic Clothes.

© Benoît Maubrey

DIE AUDIO GRUPPE (director: Benoît Maubrey) of a Berlin-based art  group that build and perform with electronic  clothes. These are  electro-acoustic clothes and dresses  (equipped with amplifiers and  loudspeakers) that create their own musical compositions by interacting  thematically and acoustically with their environment.  AUDIO BALLERINAS  use light sensors that enable them to produce sounds through the  interaction of their movements and the surrounding  light.  A variety of  other electronic  instruments  (samplers, contact microphones, movement  sensors, MP3 players, and radio receivers)  allow them to work with the  sounds, surfaces, and topographies  of the space around them in a  variety of solo or group choreographies.

Who am I and if yes why?
Three women leave it on a human like level when trying to masquerade. In some ways they just want to get through. But some obstacles are always in the way. What to do? Ignore it? Attack? Suffer? Surrender? Street. Beach. Cover. Rag. A bright square. A falling shadow. Three woman. What does happen when getting confronted with your shadows?
