Rebekka E. Böhme lives in Berlin and has been working as a freelance dancer and choreographer since 2007. She works with artists of different disciplines, choreographers and companies, such as Volksbühne Berlin, Derida Dance Company, Deutsches Theater, Alexandra Rauh, Yoshiko Waki, Alexandra Pirici, Naneci Yurdagül, shua group and others. Projects, performances and festivals have also taken her to Turkey and the Netherlands, Greece, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Spain, Portugal, Serbia and Hungary.

 

She studied dance in Berlin and continued her education in Salzburg/Austria (with Cie. Helene Weinzierl, Jurai Korec) and in Israel (Batsheva Dance Company, Vertigo Dance Company) as well as in numerous dance and circus workshops, among others with Peeping Tom, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Anton Lachky, öff öff productions, CAB - Circus Akademie Berlin, Cirkus in Beweging Leuven (Erasmus+ scholarship 2019). Recently she received a scholarship from the Foundation University of Hildesheim and Stiftung Mercator and graduated from the 1-year certification course "Artistic Interventions in Cultural Education".

Her choreographies are created in a wide variety of contexts. She develops dance pieces that can be seen not only on classical theater stages. She also creates vertical dance and aerial dance performances, as well as experimental dance films. Regularly she develops performative and circus works with children and young people.

In the artists' collective mind_the_gut, she realized cross-genre works in collaboration with Johanna Roggan and artists from art fields such as film, music, interactive design, acting and others from 2009 - 2013.

 

Rebekka also teaches contemporary dance workshops and leads performance projects in Germany. Since 2016 she has been working as a circus trainer (among others in the circus Cabuwazi and in the project Beyond Borders with refugee children and young people). Since her training as a BUNGEE WORKOUT® trainer, she also teaches dance on the elastic rope and develops choreographies in the game with the flying body.

She also works in the fields of cultural education (e.g. Neue Nationalgalerie, Bode Museum Berlin), conception as well as project coordination. She organized "culture days", dance events as well as exhibition events, coordinated festivals and assisted in dance and theater productions.
